Interview Reminders
- Learn as much about the position and the employer as possible before your interview. (If Pivotal Partners brought the opportunity to you, we will provide this information for you.)
- Arrive early. Never be late to an interview.
- Answer the interviewer's questions as specifically and directly as possible. Relate your skills and background to the position requirements of the position throughout the interview.
- Focus on accomplishments that are most pertinent to the job. Give all relevant qualifications.
- Anticipate tough, behavioral questions and prepare to turn perceived weaknesses into strengths.
- An interview should be a mutual exchange of information, not a one-sided conversation. It is okay to ask well thought out questions. Some that you may consider-
- What are your goals for this position?
- How will my performance be evaluated?
- What obstacles must be overcome for me in this position to succeed?
- What opportunities are there for growth?
- Listen not only on the interviewer's words, but also to the tone of voice and body language. Once you understand how the interviewer thinks, you will be able to establish a better rapport.
- Dress appropriately. Make your first impression a professional one.
- Be professional. Smile, make eye contact and maintain good posture. Don't be overly familiar, even if the interviewer is.
- Express appreciation for the interviewer's time and consideration.
- Write down key issues discussed after the interview. Think of the qualifications the employer is looking for and match your strengths to them. Call your consultant at Pivotal Partners and send a “thank you” to the interviewer within 24 hours of the interview.
